Course ID: NIBS-BSSC05
Credits
AIA LU/HSW:1.0, ICC CEU:0.1, PDH:1.0
Description
This webinar provides an introduction to design of seismic force-resisting systems in wood light-frame buildings, intended to complement the wood design problems in Chapter 14 of the FEMA P-1051 NEHRP Recommended Design Provisions: Design Examples. Topics include an introduction to wood light-frame terminology, design and construction, shear wall concepts and example design calculations, diaphragm concepts and example design calculations, and discussion of special seismic provisions for anchorage of concrete and masonry walls.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
- Learn the design and construction of seismic force-resisting systems in wood light-frame building;
- Learn wood light-frame terminology;
- Learn shear wall concepts and example design calculations; and
- Learn special seismic provisions for anchorage of concrete and masonry walls.
